Why Puppy Mills should end

Hundreds of thousands of puppies are raised each year in commercial kennels (puppy mills). Puppy mills should be illegal due to the inhumane things that they do to these dogs. The dogs have matted hair, jaw/tooth decay, broken or severed legs from the wired cages. Puppy mills gain most of their money from buying dog food from the ground of the food companies, not buying medical help for the dogs and have poor living conditions for the dogs. Puppy mills also do not have air conditioning or heat so the dogs freeze during the winter and die during the summer due to heat stroke. The females that overproduce the puppies are used to the point where they can no longer reproduce so they bash their heads in with a rock, shoot them, or sell them to labs for experimentation. Also puppy mills jam hot rods down the dog’s throats to debark them by damaging their vocal cords. When shipped the puppies are poorly treated and some die on the way to their destination. I just don't get why people would treat dogs like this. Over 3,500 pet stores sell puppies across the nation and collectively they sell over 500,000 puppies a year. I’m just amazed by the selfishness of man to buying puppies over dogs who over run kennels. The funny thing is that dogs from these mills are known to have mental and physical problems that will cost the new owners money on doctor expenses. Half of the puppies sold, either die from parvo or cost the owners thousands of dollars in vet fees. It is just dumb to pay someone to mistreat a dog when all it’s going to do is loose you money and kill more than likely two dogs.
