Why puppy mills start

Every dog owner can remember as a child walking into the pet store ready to pick out your new puppy. Having all that excitement of which one you’re going to choose what is its name going to be you don't think really of where this puppy came from. Pet stores obtain their puppies from puppy mills. Puppy mills are open spaces or warehouses filled with dogs being breaded to make puppies to be sold. The mistreatment of these dogs is disgusting. They keep these dogs in tiny cages and deprive them of proper nutrition and medical needs. People mistreat these animals to get a pretty penny. This is not illegal in the US yet but what some people don't know is that kennels are over run with dogs. That euthanasia is being used on a lot of dogs due to over population and kennels closing due to lack of funds. These places basically bread these dogs dry, when one mill thinks they are done with a dog they either sell it to someone or another mill to try and get one more litter of puppies out of the dog. Once the dogs cannot produce puppies anymore they kill the dog. Think about how terrible a life that must be to live in a cramped cage most of your life, with no human companionship except for the routinely person who comes to snatch away your children. What these dogs go through is completely disgusting. Another thing is that the puppies of these dogs not only have issues they also have health problems due to the poor health quality of their mother and the mill they were born. So the next time you wish to get a new dog, go to a kennel. They are just as loving and friendly as puppies and if more people decide to adopt than buy new dogs these puppy mills will have a huge loss of their business. For more information visit this site it has a lot of stories of Puppy mills and the lucky dogs that have escaped form them.http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/puppy_mills/
